Clean Energy Zero – Lime by RUNA

  • May 19, 2015
  • 4 min read

Do you remember the Random Tea Love video that I did on a very special tea that gave me loads of energy, so much so, that I had to do a random video just to tell you about it? Well, allow me to refresh your memory because I am ready to share with you my full review on the guayusa tea that I spoke of on the 27th of April. This steeped beverage provides a clean and focused energy like none other and therefore, I will explain why Clean Energy Zero Lime by RUNA should be in your tea cabinet!

Clean Energy Zero Lime by RUNA

This special Tea Review Tuesday is in the honor of Clean Energy Zero with lime flavor by RUNA. This tea is powered by guayusa, meaning that the boost of energy you will receive comes from the guayusa plant.

WHAT THE HECK IS THE GUAYUSA PLANT?

Guayusa is an Amazonian tree of the holly genus, native to the Ecuadorian Amazon Rainforest. It is one of the three caffeinated holly trees. The leaves of this tree are dried and then steeped similarly to tea. The beverage that results is known and loved by the natives for its stimulative effects.

ABOUT COMPANY

RUNA was founded in 2009 by newly graduated college students Tyler and Dan. However, the beginning of RUNA really got its start when Tyler actually lived with the Kichwa people in Ecuadorian Amazon. It was there that he was introduced to guayusa.

He loved the earthy flavor, smooth taste and energy boost so much that Tyler and his business partner Dan decided to create RUNA.

You may want to take a look on their website as they have a cute video that shows how the leaves are cultivated and reaped. See Video Now!

We thank you, Tyler and Dan at RUNA, for realizing the potential that the Amazon could offer so that we may sip happily ever after!

HUE

The color closely resembles black tea when it is steeped. At first, I had mistakenly thought that there was camelia sinensis (tea plant) within this tea because of its color, like that of black tea. However, with a closer more scrutinous look, you can see that tea rendered from guayusa is a little more translucent than tea rendered from the black tea leaf.

AROMA

Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice… well, this tea fooled me twice! I was 100% sure after smelling it that it was black tea, after all, it smells like black tea after having been sweetened with sugar. So, if I were to compare the scent to anything, it would be comparable to southern sweet black tea.

TASTE

I began to realize with every sip that this was not a tea steeped using the black tea leaf. It has a very earthy taste, similar to green tea or oolong. Guayusa tea is also very smooth because it does not contain the tannins that make black tea astringent or even bitter. Its energizing effect is what I will boast about most!

You may want to revisit the Random Tea Love video that I made back in April to really be able to see the effects. Before I sipped this tea, I was drained, tired and depleted. I lugged myself to the grocery store because I had to get a few things and happened upon this tea which I sipped on the way home from the store. By the time that I got home, not even having sipped the entire bottle, I had a clean, focused energy like that experienced by no other energy drink or boosting beverage! I think it’s absolutely amazing and what’s so great about it, is that it has zero calories and a lime flavor that really tops off the already smooth beverage!

COFFEE VS. GUAYUSA

When you think of a "boost of energy", you may think of your morning routine of making your cup of joe to be able to stay awake until lunch. Well, guayusa is a healthier alternative to coffee as it has zero calories, it is naturally sweet and has no fat or sugars. Crazy huh? Put the cup of coffee down my friend and pick up some guayusa! The energy boost that you receive from guayusa will not leave you muddled once you “come down” from the high, matter of a fact, there is no “coming down” feeling associated with the energy that comes from the guayusa plant. You will experience a nice, clean flow of energy with zero side effects.

HEALTH

Guayusa contains twice the antioxidants as green tea and contains 15 essential amino acids. If you think that is amazing, well it also has ferulic acid which is known to help improve blood circulation. Let’s not forget to mention the clean energy boost!

You, your friends and family need to experience this

clean and steady boost of energy for yourselves!
