I don’t know about you, but winter always evokes my hopes for spring. Bright green grass, dainty twirling flowers and fresh new life are what indeed fill the dreams of springtime. This fresh and lively tea by Harney & Sons will turn your springtime fantasies into reality!

A little about the brand…
When we think of tea’s history, our minds tend to travel to eastern regions such as China or perhaps India. You may be fancied to know that this tea’s history begins in the States, Connecticut to be exact.
About 30 years ago, the proprietor of the now historic White Hart Inn, John Harney, developed his passion for tea. Stanley Mason introduced Harney to the business and craft of tea, himself turning to create his own blends after years of working in the corporate world of tea.
Harney began making blends out of his basement in 1983 serving his fine tea creations to inn guests. He soon found that they came back again and again for more until, unbeknownst to him, his basement business had turned into a global production.
Today, the Harney family still focuses on their commitment to deliver the finest quality tea possible. We thank you Harney for turning your curiosity into creativity so that we may sip happily!
Well oh my, doesn’t that smell lovely…
I received this tea in the mail and had no intentions of doing a review on it immediately as I had other teas to taste. However, the scent made me not only want to taste the tea right away but I also could not wait to tell you about it as soon as possible, so I am actually doing this tea review earlier than I originally wished.
As always when I receive tea, I cracked it open to get a whiff! Instantly, my senses were revived. The smell of this tea is more than pleasant, it is awakening!
Green tea is known to have somewhat of a reviving and awakening affect and coupled with the natural orange oil and the pungent and sharp scent of marigold petals this tea blend lends an entirely different experience for the nostrils. The orange oil still carries the essence of the fruit it derives from and enlightens the senses the only way that vitamin C can. For this reason, I thought this would be a nice tea to drink with fruit either during breakfast or with a light mid-day snack.
I can’t believe my eyes!
I love the color of green tea, as mentioned at the out-set, it reminds me of spring time and new beginnings.

The green is so radiant and yet pastel. Citron Green by Harney & Sons has a typical green tea hue that goes uninterrupted by the orange oil or the marigold flower petal. The tint is elegant, restoring and peaceful, all in one.

The divine taste of tea…
Without honey, which is the sweetener of my choice, this tea has a very green and earthy taste. Not surprisingly so, as the major component is the green tea leaf. Once I had added about 2 tea spoons of sugar, the orange flavor came to life and all constituents of the tea were manifest.
The taste is not overwhelming, and the orange does not take over the green tea leaf neither does the marigold cause a heavily floral scent, so if you are a green tea lover and you sometimes hesitate to widen out in your green tea blend tasting, then perhaps this tea would be a good start since the essence of the tea leaf is minutely disturbed.
Effect?
Oh, to be in a field of marigolds, kissed by the sun of spring and revived by the smell of freshly cut grass. This is how I feel when I drink Citron Green by Harney & Sons.

Well, that’s Tea End folks!
I hope you enjoyed this tea review! I have added a “Quali-Tea” rating to this tea review and intend to add this rating to all reviews in the future. An explanation of this rating is to come so stay tuned!
